Before her experience of death, Ellie explains, "I did not believe that there is a consciousness or soul that can exist apart from the body. "As a teaching assistant at U.C. Berkeley during the 1960s, she was involved in the political revolutionary activities there and taught her students that "religion is the opiate of the people."
In August 1969 Ellie was involved in a horrific car accident that took several lives - including hers. "Looking down at my body, I was dumbfounded! I realized that everything I had believed and taught about consciousness had been wrong."
In the Light, Ellie was given amazing knowledge that she wants to share with the world. After she came back into her body and left the hospital, Ellie went on a spiritual journey that took her to Transcendental Meditation."I learned TM in order to get back to the wonderful place I had been. Maharishi taught advanced TM courses in Europe, and I followed him for most of four years. I had incredible spiritual experiences."
It took many years for Ellie to come to grips with the experiences she had after she died. Her experience of death and her spiritual experiences afterwards were in profound conflict with her belief system, and she could not reconcile them.
Ellie explains that when she finally told people about her experiences, it seemed to help them. "This made me more open to talking about the experiences I had when I was on the other side, and the spiritual experiences I have had since then. Iwant to let people know what the Truth is, and why we are here, and what the implications are for our lives."
