Food, Inflammation & Chronic Diseases with Sushama Gokhale
Tuesday, November 14th from 7-9pm
This session will focus on foods that inflame vs. foods that heal. Research is finding that inflammation is at the root of all chronic disease and this is mediated and ameliorated with food. In fact, food is the only antidote to ‘chronic’ dis-ease. This will be an informative and interactive class and Sushama will offer the deep science along with practical tips along for HEALING as opposed to symptom suppression.
Sushama Gokhale has taken Hippocrates’ words ‘food is medicine’ to heart and makes, writes about, and advocates for traditional healing foods. The kind your grandmother prescribed for you when you were sick. She studied Biochemistry, Immunology and the Life-Sciences as an undergraduate, and explains traditional, nutrient dense foods in the context of science and your health. Her aim is to solve our health problems the Hippocratic way, by letting food be our medicine. She favors fermented foods such as yogurts, vinegars, kefirs, kombuchas, sauerkrauts, kimchis, cheeses, kanjis, pickles, naturally leavened breads, . She contributes articles and book reviews to the Weston A. Price Foundation Journal for Wise Traditions in Food Farming and the Healing Arts.
