About the Festival
The 16th Annual Berkeley World Music Festival is a free world music and cultural weekend that features musical genres from every corner of the world! Some of the finest musicians in the world who call the Bay Area home perform at this Festival.
Saturday and Sunday's offerings include a wonderful mix of music from Noon – 8 pm in a variety of settings throughout the Telegraph Avenue neighborhood. Best Starting place is the main information booth at Telegraph and Haste.
Saturday, a world music tour takes place in a variety of Telegraph Avenue venues, from intimate café and street music to the featured concert in People’s Park with crafts fair. Stephen Kent, acclaimed didgeridoo artist, will be part of the talented musicians, performing in the park, ecstatic melodies and trance from around the globe. Saturday night, Ashkenaz will offer a fabulous After-Festival party, 1317 San Pablo Ave. at Gilman.
On Sunday, Telegraph Avenue, from Dwight Way to Bancroft Ave near UC Berkeley, will be transformed by “Sunday Streets Berkeley on Telegraph” into a leisurely pedestrian plaza for family friendly activities anchored with music dance area at Telegraph & Haste, along with other fine street music to various corners of the plaza. Sunday evening, the Festival hosts its finale party at the Tap Haus, 2516 Durant Ave.
