Africa has long been obscured by negative stereotypes. Age old stereotypes and negatve depictions have long denied and demeaned their people's humanity and dignity. The complexity and beauty of their unique way of life and their artistic and cultural contributions have been often overlooked. Today we are witnessing a social awakening with the Black Lives Matter movement , and the reclaiming of a powerful ancestral heritage, and with it the renaissance of Tribal Art, one of the world’s great artistic traditions that has had profound impact on modern western art.
