The main focus of Phoenix Rising is the sacred fire circle rituals where we dance, drum and sing our way around the sacred fire all night long with the intention to transmute Lead (that which keeps us stuck) into Gold (the Illuminated Soul). We weave the elemental portals in a kaleidoscope of creativity around the fire, expressing the freedom of our awakening souls. Like the Phoenix Rising from the ashes, with the rising sun we are transformed into our most magnificent selves.

By day, connect with others of like mind, learn something new at a workshop, express yourself with arts & crafts, find treasures or healing at the vendor village, get centered at the grounding dome and participate in ritual theater co-creations.

• NO arrivals past 7:00 PM on Friday. No arrivals on Saturday

We thank you for adhering to these arrival times to keep our container safe and sacred. Driving time from central San Diego is about 50 minutes without traffic, or 1.5 - 2 hours with traffic. Please plan ahead to avoid peak rush hours.

About Madre Grande Monastery

Our lovely location is located 35 miles southeast of San Diego, in the high desert surrounded by giant rock formations. Oak trees and native plants fill the site where the indigenous peoples made their home in times past.

Fresh well water is plentiful and gives life to the land. All who visit Madre Grande feel the powerful presence of the ancestors and the sacredness of the land itself. The stewards of Madre Grande, Monica, and Martin are most gracious hosts, avid farmers, and gardeners.

We will be camping onsite. Shade structures over your tent are highly recommended. You may car camp or bring an RV. There are two semi-outdoor hot showers and port o' potties throughout the site.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE: Driving to the site the last 2 miles are very rough, rocky, and slow going. Be mindful of potholes, uneven roads, and the neighbors who share the road with Madre Grande. RV's are welcome but you must be skilled at driving this vehicle. Directions will be sent to those who register.
